A variety of organizations, created by Aboriginal people or governments, aim to help individuals and groups live better lives.

Some organizations, such as the Native Women’s Association of Quebec or the Assembly of First Nations of Quebec and Labrador, are working to obtain more powers, rights and autonomy.

Other organizations help Aboriginal people in difficult situations: moving to the city far from their community, looking for a job, recovering from drug or alcohol addiction, wanting to return to school, etc.

Still other associations work to keep languages and traditional cultures alive. They support artists and projects so that the culture will be passed on to all generations.
