The Aboriginal people used a variety of means of transportation, both on land and water.
For travel on land, snowshoes and sleds are well adapted to the realities of winter.
On water, the bark canoe is easy to manoeuver and allows fast travel. Since bark cannot be used in the North because there are no trees, the Inuit most often made kayaks out of seal skin. The Inuit also used the oumiak, a big canoe that seats up to 20 people, for whale-hunting expeditions for example.
