Visible from space, the Pingualuit Crater is located in Nunavik, the territory in northern Quebec. It was created by a meteorite that fell to Earth 1.4 million years ago.

The crater is almost perfectly round. It measures 3.44 km in diameter and is 252 meters deep. It can be seen from high in the sky. It is filled with rainwater; no rivers feed it. Its name means “pimples” in Inuktitut, because of the many small hills that surround the crater.
