The Inuit live in a subarctic and arctic climate. The winters are long and cold and there is a lot of snow. The summers are cool and short. In July, for example, the typical temperature is 10°C. It sometimes even snows in June! Farming is therefore not possible.

The Inuit are well adapted to these climatic conditions. In the past, they used ice and snow to build igloos. Today, they live in modern houses. The Inuit still wish to live in harmony with nature. Many still hunt and fish, even though they mostly buy their food at the grocery store.

In the winter, many enjoy snowshoeing and snowmobiling. In the summer, they use their canoes and kayaks. They also like sharing these activities with tourists.
