In the eyes of the First Peoples, all territories are a great wealth because of their many natural resources.

The forest provides food through hunting: the wildlife is abundant and diverse. Plants used for food and healing are also found in the forest, as are trees for making boats, shelters and snowshoes.

Water from lakes and rivers quenches thirst, makes it possible to travel quickly and is home to fish that can be harvested for food.

Even the North, which may seem deserted, is the place where caribou and seals can be hunted, where cottongrass and steatite stone are found. Snow is also considered to be wealth.
