There are many children in today’s Aboriginal communities. Young people therefore hold an important place in considerations and actions for the future.

Traditionally, rites of passage marked the arrival of a child. Nowadays, many young Aboriginal parents want to keep their culture alive by wrapping the baby in a tikinagan (a traditional baby carrier) and celebrating, for example, the walking out ceremony (Eeyou and Atikamekw Nehirowisiwok)… and of course by immortalizing everything in photos and video!

For most Aboriginal youth, it is very important to learn about First Nations traditions and culture while enjoying the benefits of today’s world, such as using an Aboriginal language to compose hip-hop songs, like Samian does, an Anishinabeg-Quebec rapper.
