Tourism is an activity that consists of travelling and visiting a place for pleasure.
Until the late 1980s, tourism in Aboriginal territory in Quebec was mainly managed by governments or non-Aboriginal private owners. The Aboriginal people worked as fishing and hunting guides or artisans.
Today, Aboriginal businesses are inviting tourists to visit their territories. The Aboriginal people are happy to share their cultures through visits, shows, workshops, museums or traditional sites; they make sure the tourism activities are carried out with respect for nature and traditions.
