Depending on the territory they occupied, Aboriginal nations developed different lifestyles and customs. Traditionally, there was a significant difference between nomadic peoples and sedentary peoples: sedentary peoples practiced farming and hunted and fished around the village, while nomads moved across large areas to track herds and use their resources.
The traditional way of life is part of the First Peoples’ cultural heritage, but now Aboriginal people live in today’s world. They work in corporations, tourism businesses, construction and at companies that harvest natural resources. No one lives from day to day in a tent or longhouse. They travel by car or snowmobile.
