Drawing by Manon Sioui, an artist from Wendake. The turtle symbolizes Mother Earth, on which the tree of life sits. Under the turtle, a club is buried. This was a traditional weapon that warriors used. The work symbolizes peace, or the expression “bury the hatchet”, used by the Aboriginal peoples in their diplomatic relations with colonial authorities.
