Depending on the environment in which they live and their cultural traditions, First Nations and Inuit have different resources on which they can draw to develop their economies and cultures.

For example, the Naskapi, Atikamekw Nehirowisiwok, Anishinabeg, Huron-Wendat and Inuit welcome many tourists for unforgettable experiences in the forest, for fishing trips or nature walks. They also sell food and handicrafts.

Other nations use the natural resources to create both lucrative and environmentally friendly businesses. This is the case of Mi’gmaq and the Eeyou, who run commercial fisheries, outfitters, wood processing companies and establishments that make herbal tea and other plant products. Their products are also sold in big-city stores.

The traditional culture, which encompasses language, legends and the world of imagination, is also a precious resource for Aboriginal artists, who draw on the ideas to make a name for themselves in Quebec and around the world.
