Aboriginal communities are spread throughout Quebec. Often, the distance between two communities in the same nation is very large, several hours away or even a plane ride away. For this reason, it can be more difficult to work together on projects. Fortunately, telecommunications (formerly radio, now the Internet) can connect people thousands of miles apart.

Distance doesn’t only exist between two places. The distance between generations, for example, means that Aboriginal youth do not always feel very close to their elders or even their parents because they feel they do not live in the same world. This situation can be an obstacle to the survival of the culture, since young people sometimes feel that the elders do not understand them … and the reverse is also true.
