The traditional Aboriginal diet included foods from gathering, such as berries, foods from hunting and fishing, such as meat and fish, and, in the case of the Iroquoians, agricultural produce such as squash and corn (from which they ground flour to make bread).
Sharing is an important value for Aboriginal people. The value of sharing food is an example of how they live, even today. When someone has a successful hunt, he makes sure to share with other members of the group who need food, especially with the elders, who sometimes can’t hunt anymore. Also, friends are often invited over to share meals.
