Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people want to work together to build a future where everyone can live in harmony. There is still a great deal of work to do to achieve this goal.

Some of the errors that were made are related to history: the colonization of the territories, the Indian Act, the desire to eradicate Aboriginal cultures … To correct the mistakes, Aboriginal people need to be able to manage the matters that concern them (this is called self-government), so that they can exercise rights in their territories and preserve their languages and cultures.

Other problems must also be solved: inequalities (access to education, housing, work), injustices (prejudice and discrimination), social challenges (health problems, drug and alcohol use).

That is indeed a lot of work. Many projects are underway to find solutions, but there are still a number of challenges. Everyone can do their part to build a fairer future, including you!
